KAGADI — Parents in Kagadi District have been advised not to prevent their children from repeating classes if they perform poorly academically.
The guidance was issued on Wednesday by Julius Alinda Mpigiza, the Kagadi District Inspector of Schools in charge of Buyaga West, while officiating at the Speech Day and Top Class Graduation ceremony at Mother Care Nursery and Primary School in Ikuma Cell, Kagadi Town Council.
Mpigiza noted that the introduction of automatic promotion in schools has led many learners to advance without acquiring the necessary knowledge and skills.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner for Kagadi, Jerome Namanya, who was the guest speaker, urged parents—particularly mothers—to refrain from speaking negatively about their spouses to children.
He said some women portray their husbands as irresponsible, especially when they work far from home or return late due to workload.
Judith Baineomugisa, School Programs Supervisor at Mother Care Primary School, said the learners had been equipped with important skills, including computer applications, hands-on practical skills, and talent development, as the school concluded the academic year.
Baineomugisa also thanked parents for their continued trust and announced an ongoing promotion offering free registration for learners for the next academic year until December 31, 2025.
